Cobra is a Birmingham based gym that specialises in Muay Thai training. For those unfamiliar, Muay Thai is a full contact sport that originated from Thailand. Often referred to as the "art of eight limbs," it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes, thus using eight points of contact on an opponent's body. Unlike regular boxing, Muay Thai allows both striking and clinching techniques. 

Muay Thai requires focused training to build strength, stamina, and mental discipline. Common conditioning techniques involve hitting heavy bags, focus mitts, and pads. In addition to stand-up striking, Muay Thai has a strong focus on clinch fighting where opponents battle for dominant positioning using knees and elbows.

While still very popular in Thailand, the sport has grown internationally as a form of combat sport competition. Muay Thai is respected for its effectiveness as a striking-based martial art.
